THE ELEMENTS: Songs about earth, air, fire and water
My personal rules: Roughly the same amount of songs for each element (3, 3, 4, 5) and the word had to be in the song title. Bonus points for more than one element in a song title (used for transition purposes). I also wanted to keep a distinctive outdoorsy kind of feel.

1. “This Bitter Earth” - Dinah Washington
There are lots of versions of this song, but hers is my favorite. See the film “Killer of Sheep” about 1970s Watts if you haven’t. The soundtrack is amazing (and where I gleaned this song).
2. “Gone to Earth” - American Analog Set
3. “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire” - Ink Spots
Technically it says “world” and not “earth,” but I thought it was close enough … especially since “fire” is also in the title.
4. “Fuel for Fire” - M. Ward
5. “Wheels on Fire” - The Magic Numbers
6. “Fire” - Kimya Dawson
7. “Cold Cold Water” - Mirah
This one gets a bit feistier than the others.
8. “This Water” - Ida
9. “Water Turn Off Notice” - Dosh
10. ”Water May Walk” - Devendra Banhart
11. “Water & Air” - Cat Power
Two points.
12. “Look Into the Air” - Explosions in the Sky
13. “The Air in the Morning” - Mount Eerie
Just got into this band; really enjoying it.
